Psoy Korolenko and Anna Shternshis present the program “Heroes singing in Yiddish. Forgotten music of the Second World War”.
Psoy Korolenko will perform songs recorded and collected by Soviet folklorists from 1941 to 1947, which were subsequently confiscated during Stalin’s repressions, and then found in the archives in the early 2000s.
Written by soldiers of the Red Army, refugees, as well as prisoners, these songs tell about how Jews lived, died, and survived the war.
Songs will be performed in Yiddish with Russian subtitles on February 7th, 2018 in Moscow, Russia. The admission is free.
