Japanese – Celtic fusion

Mr. Nagata, a leader of a world-renewed Japanese taiko group Nagata Shachu, says that it all began with “Sounds of Canada”.

“Both groups had seen each other's episode on "Sounds of Canada". I was immediately drawn to their (The American Rogues’) sound and music and looked them up online” says Kiyoshi Nagata.
“Nelson Stewart (a leader of the American Rogues) contacted me and he ended up taking Japanese drumming classes at our studio!” adds Mr. Nagata.

Not only a band leader have long been interested in taiko, but several other group members have studied it as well. The American Rogues even performed in Japan! But this will be the first time they will be fusing Japanese and Celtic culture on stage.

Their first performance will be on June 8th at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto.
