Mediterranean Sounds of Canada

During the months of May and June, we were filming an episode of Mediterranean Sounds of Canada featuring dancer Joanne Comilleri. The filming was done in Sultan’s Tent, one of the best and oldest restaurants in Toronto. Specifically for our film crew, the owners of Sultan’s Tent made an exception and allowed us into the so-called Barber Lounge, the room which is opened very rarely and only on special occasions. The interiors of this unique place resemble the caves of Ali Baba, which is the best possible location for filming the ancient art of belly dancing, as well as dancing with swords and snakes. Every detail of the interiors added a flair of mystery to the overall experience, and the sounds of oriental melodies which accompanied Joanne Comilleri’s performance and completed the fairy tale atmosphere.
